Perspectives Fuel Action
When we see children
As common goods
We advertise them in every place
And seek to make meaningful sales
When we see children
As noble seeds
We plant them in good ground
And keep nurturing till we have forests
When we see children
As insurance premiums
We pile them up every summer
And hope for security in winter months
When we see children
As ready apprentices
We expose them to cycles of process
And end up with empowered masters
When we see children
As active citizens
We acquaint them with duty and heritage
And groom conscientious nation builders
When we see children
As battle trophies
We lift them up to the world
And drink in a sense of pride
When we see children
As sacred trusts
We faithfully guard the Trustor's interests
And anticipate an eventual well-done
When we see children
As able minds
We present them with puzzles
And stir up their leadership genius
When we see children
As prime buildings
We are careful for the foundation
And painstakingly align with divine design
When we see children
As human beings
We light up the path of life
And integrate them into community
When we see children
As entitled heirs
We pamper their lazy sores
And secure guarantees of ruined estates
When we see children
As worthy legacies
We get thoughtful about how we live
And intentionally exhibit values that count
When we see children
As mobile temples
We give them the ageless Scriptures
And cultivate a lively hope of salvation
When we see children
As bright pupils
We diligently train them up
And school a lineage of thinkers
When we see children
As absorbent sponges
We create early learning experiences
And let our charities begin at home
When we see children
As noisy disturbances
We quickly outsource care to strangers
And act astonished when they are distant
When we see children
As precious gifts
We deploy them to eternal purpose
And only seek to please the generous Giver
When we see children
As vested interests
We keep vigilant watch over their walls
And arm them with shields of faith
When we see children
As simple copycats
We labour to be examples worth imitating
And not bland mistakes to be avoided
When we see children
As delightsome gardens
We tend and maintain their tender shoots
And equip them with relevant tools
When we see children
As lofty luxuries
We pay a high price to acquire them
And mount a stage of status symbols
When we see children
As pure springs
We carefully feed them with truth
And hand in reasoning scales that sift filth
When we see children
As great company
We listen with grace, love, plus attention
And find it virtuous to be childlike
When we see children
As unique species
We consider it foolhardy to compare any
And pray they fit into their own shoes
When we see children
As choice souls
We gracefully apply the rod of correctìon
And staff of comfort to disciple them
When we see children
As captive slaves
We forget that choices have consequences
And meet up with brutal regrets
When we see children
As vulnerable ones
We create wide social safety nets
And security systems that supply their lack
When we see children
As tomorrow's workforce
We help them treasure sound industry
And value creation over vain frivolities
When we see children
As team players
We cooperate in pursuit of common good
And work in peace to save the planet
When we see children
As future parents
We show reverent gratitude for the blessing
And great burden of becoming good patterns
