Nigeria Has Now Passed Over!

The corrupting years of locusts in the fields of Nigeria's development have now come to an end!


We shall not cease to tell the tales of their damaging influence to this generation and the next;


They once chewed on our abundant harvest of resources. 


Like swarms of flies, they once surrounded and polluted our food baskets.


They crawled up on our youthful and green fields and gnawed them all up.


They consumed and licked up our common patrimony, grew fat and kicked in arrogance.


Like unrepentant dogs, they wounded us with words and licked up our sores with their greedy tongues.


They drilled into our ground and took away our livelihoods. 


In their shortsightedness, they oppressed us and enslaved us to their own benefit.


They became drunk with the wine from our fruitful vineyards and spat out foolish arrogance in return.


With the fierceness of hungry lions they devoured the land.


They stripped, cut down our fruitful trees, and whitened the branches. 


They robbed us of excellence and sold us mediocrity.


They imprisoned our best, brightest, and most accurately positioned in their dungeons of cruelty.


They converted our flowery gardens into dunghills.


They hew out cisterns with no water and polluted our rivers.


They brought shame and reproach to our heritage as poverty littered the streets.


They conspired to kill our undying dreams and sold us to strange merchants.


They grieved the fresh oil off and replaced it with stale and putrefied oils.


They tripped off our colourful robes of culture and replaced it with drab aprons of bondage. 


They set youth on their wheels far away from their own heritage, to live as strangers and pilgrims in foreign lands.


They offered us dry brown fields as green pastures and cut off joy from mankind.


They took the fear of God away from us, then carved and made us bow to golden and dumb idols.


They once sheared away our fleece, chopped off the lambs, and left us bare in the cold.


They made us a byword and public ridicule in the comity of nations.


They plundered our houses and distributed the loot among their fellow kinsmen.


They took contentment away from our hearts and sold us greed for gain, which ultimately takes away the life of the owners.


Their thought of advancing to perpetrate wickedness can proceed no further!


Their rule and reign has now expired, with no room for extension of shelf life!


Nigeria has now passed over from death into life!


Nigeria has now passed over from barrenness into fruifulness!


Nigeria has now passed over from sorrow into joy!


Nigeria has now passed over from bondage into liberty!


Nigeria has now passed over from oppression into rejoicing! 


Nigeria has now passed over from darkness into light!


Nigeria has now passed over from slavery into freedom!


Nigeria has now passed over from corruption into redemption!


Nigeria has now passed over from insecurity into peace and serenity!


Nigeria has now passed over from stagnation into sustainability!


Nigeria has now passed over from poverty into power!


Nigeria has now passed over from ignorance into wisdom!


Nigeria has now departed the shores of underdevelopment and is sailing safely and securely in the deep oceans of excellent greatness!


The doors of heaven are now raining angelic meals on Nigeria's poor and needy!


The sea of knowledge is now divided to pave way for the Nigerian value!


The veils of inhibition over Nigeria, her poor and needy are now torn in two from top to bottom!


The scales in the eyes of the Most High's chosen ones have now fallen into oblivion!


Streams of goodness and value-adding investments are now flowing into and through all our streets and borders!


Nigeria is matching on to victory from now onwards, including 2023 and beyond!


Nigeria has won!


Nigeria is winning!


Nigeria will win!


Nigeria will keep soaring by righteousness! 


Falling short will no longer be our report!


The reproach of Nigeria is now taken away!


Righteousness will exalt our beloved and blessed Nation Nigeria!


As a shield surrounds a victorious warrior, mercy and grace now surrounds Nigeria and all Hers!


By the right hand of the Most High, Nigeria has crossed over every hurdle into her glorious heritage!


Peace be to Nigeria and prosperity be within her palaces!


Amen: It is settled!

I like the tropical fruit called pineapple and it serves as a sweet base for some of my homemade fruit juices. I have observed in recent times as I shop in local markets and around town for pineapple that there are two varieties –  slim-shaped pineapples and robust pineapples. Beginning today Friday 25 th through Sunday 27 th September 2015, Heads of State and Government and High representatives will meet at the 70 th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York to ratify the blue print of the post-2015 Development Agenda – Sustainable Development Goals. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development focuses on transforming the world with a focus on 5 Ps – People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership. The blueprint is indeed a product of conscientious consultations involving various stakeholders deliberating and debating various thematic and sub-thematic issues. The Task Force improved on the consultative processes that birthed the MDGs. Many thanks to everyone who has participated in the opinion survey on Nigeria’s 2015 presidential elections powered by Research Policy Shop . You are deeply appreciated. Respondents are male and female Nigerians, of different age groups, religious affiliation, with states of origin spread across the six geopolitical zones. This post is devoted to sharing preliminary results from the Survey. For the most part, respondents (54%) base their prospective voting behaviour on their personal evaluation of the candidate’s past/prospective performance. Another 45% of respondents base their prospective voting behaviour on ‘desirable personal characteristics’ of the choice candidate. A larger percentage of the respondents so far originate from South-West Nigeria. Most of the respondents (72%) noted they are likely to vote for the APC candidate. The Difference is Clear: Nigerian Police Barracks Versus Military/Naval/Air Force Barracks

It is not only of 7Up’s taste that we can say   ‘the difference is clear’ , we can also say same of the Nigerian police barracks in contrast with military/naval/air force (MNA) barracks.  Sometimes, irrespective of their location, the physical state of police residential buildings and adjoining environment is deplorable, with pockets of disorganized vendors and poor waste management systems.  On the better hand, MNA residential areas have relatively cleaner environments, better maintained buildings and organized trading areas. As a development economist, I am bothered that this ‘physical’ differential may be a signal to more serious social welfare issues.
