Socioeconomics of Human Migration

If you have ever lived in any location other than in your native country, then you can, more than most, understand the beauty in diversity, geography, peoples and cultures.

Migration and human mobility throughout history contributes in no meagre way to economic and social development.

Nevertheless, as value-adding as internal/international human migration can be, it should always be a matter of choice and never one of necessity.

Every human deserves to live and thrive in peaceful, safe and resilient societies that provide opportunities for all.

So, while we work at creating sustainable human societies during 2020-2029, we should ensure we give the priceless gift of hope to forced migrants, such as refugees and IDPs, by showing them that they belong.

Whether choice-migrants or forced-migrants, migrants are people just like us.

Let us commit to safe and dignified migration for all! Yes we can.
